Let’s talk about different style of chaps you may come across.
This style featured is known as Arizona Bells.
Traditionally this style is worn by cowboys in Arizona and the desert states. (The Texas style differs slightly with more of a winged point) Made from 8/9oz wild boar hide it protects from Mesquite bushes and Cacti.
Most are ‘step in’ style meaning they are always laced up on the thigh to below the calf. No zipper or snaps to fiddle with.
the wearer of these flips the back of the yokes forward and steps into them. As they pull them up the yokes are returned to the front. Because of this unique feature to these chaps they attach with a buckle at the back and a lace in the front.
These ones pictured are made from a 5 oz cream glove tan. With a spacious pocket, chap leather yokes and cuffs and laced together with 1/2” lacing.
