The Ole Fiador Knot

Are you a lover of having a fiador on your Bosal like I am? If your not aware of what it is, it acts as a throat latch on your Bosal to keep your hackamore in a secure and balanced position. allowing for the clearest signal to you horse. As well as preventing the Hackamore from falling off or getting rubbed off in the brush. Sometimes just a simple head toss is all it takes to pop your Bosal off from your horses head. (This is mostly common in Appaloosa horses so the majority of riders are probably ok jk jk).

But in the rise of the hackamore horse coming back to the industry why has the fiador not risen with it?

It is a proven fact that out of all the knots to tie the fiador is the hardest and most trying knot there is, hence there are few old timers around anymore who can tie this tricky knot.

Fun fact. Most all other knots can be traced to sailors and sailing ships, but not the Fiador. It’s a tried and true horseman’s knot. Coming from Argentina Pampas up through Mexico and into the southwest. It came on horses and not ships.
